Dr. Ahmad Hourani, a Palestinian businessman who lived in Jordan and is known for his
accomplishments in educational institutes, Tourism & Hospitality , Dairy and Food
Services)
Born 1942 in Toul Karem, Palestine; Dr. Hourani believed that there are no limits or
substitutes in education. He held multiple distinguished university degrees from Cairo &
Damascus universities; two bachelors’ degrees in literature & law from the University of
Damascus, two diplomas in tax legislation & Public Law from University of Cairo & a PHD in law
by the University of Cairo in 1972)
Wanted to share his knowledge; Dr. Hourani started his professional career as a teacher in Saudi
Arabia and Libya. Thereafter, he decided to go back to Jordan and joined the Central Bank
working in various managerial positions. He was seconded as an adviser to the Minister of Labor
and an assistant of the General Manager of the Social Security Corporation and a deputy of the
General Manager of the Cities and Villages Development Bank. As to his practical experiences in the
private sector, he founded the United Jordan Company for Investment LTC and was the chairman
of its board of directors)
Continuing his love and passion for education; he established 3 schools in Amman the capital, as well
as Al-Andalus Intermediate University College and an accomplishment he took pride in was the
establishment and management of Al-Ahliyya Amman Private University which was the first private
university in Jordan and the Arab world)
Dr.Hourani also owned the largest share of the Jordan Dairy Co. Ltd. and purchased the Danish Jordan
Dairy Co. where he was involved, loved and renowned locally, regionally and internationally)
Being a visionary and strong believer of Jordan’s beauty as a global touristic destination; he decided to get
into the tourism business and moved forward in his distinguished career and assumed the position of
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Sharq Hotels & Tourism Projects Co., which owns the Holiday Inn
Amman Hotel. Then he founded Arena for Hotel and Tourism Investments Company, which owns Arena Space
(4 stars) in Jordan and 3 hotels (4 and 5 stars) in Bulgaria)
In addition to all of his achievements, his ambition to invest in the field of providing food services spawned the
founding of a restaurant and coffee shop in Abdoun (Zoka), and also purchasing an international Canadian chain

Dr. Hourani passed away in Amman, Jordan on 2016, at the age of 74 leaving his teachings, values and Hourani
legacy to his children and family members
I advise the younger generation not to follow behind delusions quest because they will Aegni only loss and regret , to be realistic and thier feet on the ground, stay away of the stock exchanges and speculation in all its forms and If they failed at some stage in thier life to achieve any of thier goals do not grieve , do not lose hope and to put in thier the mind "that the strike does not end you gives you more strength.
Perhaps the best solution and the best for the development of public and private universities is the independence of the university where it should have the entire freedom in the development and catch up with the world's best universities instead of all the universities become a duplicate copy of the University of Jordan.
Anyone who followes the movement of the financial market notes that constantly grows for two years and then starts weaking for time pried nearly ten years and the reason for this is due to the mechanism of action of the market, mechanism of action of the market requires the investor to start buying and has no right to start selling, for that reason once investors starts to buy the market starts to rise and only in a month or two the shopping spree start in all segments of society.
I was determined to establish the first private University in Jordan and in the Arab World, because I saw the sons of this nation who were not allowed to enroll in public universities due to their grades go abroad to complete their higher education. The university opened its doors to receive the first batch of students in 1990.
